Renewable energy for nonprofits

and government entities

Olson Energy Corporation

We develop and finance wind and solar projects for nonprofits and government entities in an entirely new way.

A better way!

Nonprofits own the project debt-free after only 5 years!

Investors enjoy solid returns while building strong relationships with their stakeholders and the public.

Unprecedented support for social welfare organizations, schools, universities, state and local governments, churches and nonprofit hospitals.

Oh yeah, and planet earth too!

The Challenge

As a nonprofit or government entity you are typically required to sign a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) of 20 to 30 years. However, the renewable energy asset usually remains the property of the investor indefinitely. Sometimes the asset can be purchased for Fair Market Value in 15 or 20 years, after the investor debt has been fully paid. Under these arrangements the nonprofit or government entity enjoys the benefit of clean, renewable electricity but all of the financial benefits accrue to the investor.

The Olson Solution

By adding a Charitable Contribution Tax Deduction, the debt assumed by the investor in your project is reduced by 2/3. At the end of 5 years the investor debt is paid in full and the project is donated to your nonprofit or government entity. From that point on, you enjoy virtually free electricity for the 25 to 35 years of remaining project life.

Better for Investors

Endorsed by Leading Experts

The Olson Plan is based on a tax treatise written by Robert Olson, JD that has been reviewed and green lighted by several leading national tax law firms, a number of Fortune 500 tax and accounting departments and 3 of the Big 4 accounting firms.

That being said, tax laws are intricate and may apply differently depending on individual or corporate circumstances. If you have questions on how the Olson Plan would work for your situation, please reach out to us. We would be happy to discuss the potential impact of the Olson Plan on your specific financial circumstances.
